THE 16TH ANNUAL WEEKEND CLASSIC EVENT

The 16th Annual Weekend Classic, held last year on November 2–4, at the beautiful, historic Ojai Valley Inn and Spa, proved to be one of STOP CANCER’s most successful events ever. Featuring a Hollywood “Golden Era” theme, including a special screening of the movie, “Notorious” Frank Sinatra’s” Rat Pack lounge,.” as well as a number of surprise “guest celebrities, “ Co-Chairs Pat and Sandy Gage and their hardworking committee provide an extravaganza of glitz and fun for approximately 300 participants.

As a topper, largely through the exciting live and silent auctions the Weekend raised $590,000 for research. When matched in-kind by the recipient Comprehensive Cancer Centers STOP CANCER supports, the proceeds had a value of $1,180,000, all going for cancer research!

Among the Weekend highlights were the opportunity drawing for a 2008 Lexus LS 460,won by longtime members Doris and Arnold Luster, and the initial appearance ofrenowned bridge instructor, Eddie Kantar, who supervised the Duplicate Bridge Tournament. The Saturday gala featured the music of Karen Benjamin and Allan Chapman followed by an after hours sing-a-long. The Weekend closed with a Sunday Brunch along with awarding Tournament prizes.
